About

During the last decade, Satoshi Saïkusa has developed personal projects in which the themes of night, memory and the fragility of being appear recurrently. Whether he works on series of portraits, of still lives or installations, the Buddhist concept of impermanence seems to dialogue incessantly with that of memento mori.

During his career, Satoshi Saïkusa has photographed a lot of artists: Yayoï Kusama, Fernando Botero, Archie Shepp, Jean Nouvel, Sofia Coppola, etc. He has collaborated with international magazines such as Vogue, Numero, Harper’s Bazaar, W, GQ and managed several prestigious advertising campaigns for Yves Saint-Laurent, Shiseido or Lancôme. He also has directed commercials for Evian, Nike, Peugeot, Gaz de France, SNCF, etc.

The photographs of Satoshi Saïkusa have been shown internationally, notably at the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum of London. His art has been the object of numerous publications and appears in the permanent collection of the Kobe Fashion Museum, in Japan.

A propos
